On June 8th we brought the news that according to a trainee teacher, producer and Bomb The Bass frontman Tim Simenon (37) had twice raped her after a booze party. The case was heard in front of the Snaresbrook Crown Court, East London. The musician, who produced tracks for Depeche Mode, Bjork and Massive Attack, met the girl, 27, at a friend’s birthday party in March last year. The pair shared a taxi back to his flat in Islington, North London. Once there, Simenon tried to grope her, the court heard. The alleged victim from Kent admitted having taken cocaine and being very drunk after wine, vodka and beer. The woman said she had gone to sleep with her mobile phone in her hand and tried to call her partner for help as she was raped. The call was never made as "I didn't have any credit left" the girl claims. Simenon told police they had consensual sex. He denied rape and indecent assault. On June 9th the jury took just three minutes to clear him of raping the woman.
